A Disney vacation is a once in a lifetime trip for many families. Every little girl dreams of meeting her favorite princess and seeing the iconic Cinderella’s Castle. Guess what? There is there a way to make that dream Disney vacation more affordable? We have some helpful tips to save some money during your Disney vacation.
- Stay on property
By staying on property, of your transportation is included in your stay. Walt Disney World in Florida offers complimentary airport transfers for all guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort. When you arrive at Orlando International Airport, guests can collect their luggage and head toward the car rental desk floor, follow signs for Disney’s Magical Express. You will be asked to present your resort confirmation. Buses are equipped with wheelchair access, if required. If you are in need of accessible service, make sure to notify Disney of this need at least seven days prior to your arrival at Orlando International Airport. To add this special request to your Magical Express transfer, call 407-939-1936 or allow your accessible travel specialist to add this request for you.
While staying at Walt Disney World Resort, there is an entire transportation system available to all guests that allow visitors to travel between all the Disney theme parks, water parks and Disney Springs. This free service is available from all hotels, parks and Disney Springs. This shuttle service can be in the form of buses, ferries, the monorail system or the new Skyliner. Each service is fully accessible for wheelchairs, powerchairs, scooters and strollers. Each service provides auditory information and the buses additionally, provide visual information.
- Book during the free dining promotion
Disney runs a great promotion giving guests staying on a Disney Resort property a free dining experience during their stay. This promotion is subject to availability and may or may not be offered during a given year, but is a great way to save on food costs during your trip, if you can travel during the promotion period. Two or three meals a day for a family of four can really add up in cost. The number of meals depends on the package offerings.
- Bring a reusable water bottle
Bottled water is always good to have, because you can carry it with you. Given the heat regularly experienced in Florida, it is always important to have water with you at all times. Bottled water at the Disney’s parks is expensive at $3+USD a bottle. Bringing a reusable water bottle, allows you to fill the bottle at water fountains as required to stay hydrated for the day. Many people already bring a reusable water bottle for flights, so bringing it with you to the Disney’s Parks is just as smart. Another option for water is instead of buying bottled water, ask any quick service restaurant for a free cup of water. Cast members will provide a small cup of water free of charge.
- Bring snacks
Bringing granola bars or other small snacks to the parks each day is another economical way to feed the family while at Disney. By having snacks available, you are less likely to need to purchase a snack while visiting the parks. Bringing additional snacks also provides a late-night snack for when you return to your hotel. Park snacks are fun because they are Disney themed and a treat but bringing something more practical like a store bought granola bar is better for you and more filling.
- Spend a day at Disney Springs
Disney Springs, was previously named Downtown Disney, has been re-imagined and is now larger than ever. Guests can board any Disney World Resort bus headed to Disney Springs to experience this new downtown area. Free to visit, Disney Springs offers a variety of activities and amenities from movie theatres to bowling, dining and entertainment. Do some window shopping at the many stores and stop by Ghirardelli for your free sample. Enjoy nightly entertainment from performers throughout Disney Springs. Instead of paying for an extra day at the parks, spend a day at Disney Springs and enjoy a different aspect of Disney.
