My name is Adam and I joined Impact Vacations towards the end of 2019. I have a visible disability, cerebral palsy, meaning I have trouble walking and use alternative ways of communication (letter board, computer). I am also a self manager on the Direct Funding Program, meaning that I employ several attendants who assist me with the activities of daily living, such as morning care, eating and going out in the community.
I have been infected by the travel bug when I had to travel for therapy, first to the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw and then 11 times to the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in Philadelphia. At the age of 9, my family moved from Poznan, Poland to Saskatoon and I have lived in Saskatchewan, India and the Netherlands before settling down in Ottawa in 2013. I traveled widely throughout my life and I enjoy traveling. Some of the most memorable experiences include meeting Pope John Paul II in Rome, hiking in the harness in the jungles of Costa Rica, and admiring the rugged late fall scenery of the Yukon.
